Course Description

This course is designed to provide the fundamental knowledge necessary to select, apply and tune any temperature controller. A non-mathematical introduction to closed loop PID control is provided along with practical hands-on exercises using the Omron E5CC temperature controller.

Course Objectives

Upon completion of the course, a student will be able to:
a) Understand and apply closed-loop PID basics to real-world applications
b) Select appropriate temperature sensors for a specific application
c) Select an appropriate temperature controller for a specific application
d) Set up and operate and maintain the selected temperature controller


Basic knowledge of AC and DC industrial electronics and industrial control devices is recommended.
